School Backpacks
August Service Project

Six children at Killip School will be receiving a new backpack this week, which they may not have received otherwise. The members of the Exchange Club of Flagstaff collected backpacks and schools supplies for students whose families cannot afford to purchase them.

The club had a backpack stuffing party Thursday, August 9, 2007. John states, “It was a lot of fun and serves a need in our community.” A total of 31 backpacks were filled with school supplies to be delivered to several local schools. MEMS, Kinsey, Christensen, Flagstaff Junior Academy, in addition to Killip School received backpacks. Eight backpacks were provided to the teen boys living at Aspen House.

The local Target store assisted in the project by donating a $50 gift certificate towards the purchase of the supplies. This, donations by club members and the contribution from the Exchange Club Foundation made the project possible. “This project serves the children in our community. Next year we would like to expand to include more schools and more children,” club president Elaine states.

Check Out Our New Website

Our new website is up and running.  Check it out at flagstaffexchangeclub.com .  I would appreciate your looking at it and making any suggestions for additions, deletions, improvements, changes, or whatever.  If any of you have photos of past events, particularly our service projects, I'd love to have them to add to the site.  If someone, who has been with the club longer than I have and has a knowledge of its history, would be willing to write a history, I would like to add a "History" page.  Old photos from events since the beginning of our Chapter would make a nice addition to that page.

I don't know how to create a password-protected area of the website and personally I doubt if anyone would even use it.  Since there has been a comment made about posting the contact information for our members on the site, I am hesitant to add a membership list with contact info.  I would like to add a "Member Profile" page which would include the name of each member and a brief bio of one to two paragraphs about each member.  If you wish to include a link to your website, this would be an ideal place to put it.  I can't write your bio--only you can provide that information.  You can send it to me at shopcreativegifts@yahoo.com and I will add them as I receive them.  I'd love to also include a photo of each member if they provide it to me.  Unless you submit the info to me, only your name will be listed.

I have built the website but have not optimized it for the search engines yet.  I'll be doing that in the next week or so.  A link to your business website can provide an ideal one-way link for the search engines which will increase the optimization of your own website.

She is the only Flagstaff real estate agent so far to complete the educational requirements for this designation.  Ann, who already has a lot of other certifications in the Real Estate Community, heads up Team Heitland with Remax Peak Properties here in Flagstaff.  Her website is www.BestFlagstaffHomes.com

Howard Hansen had hip surgery a few weeks ago.  He's a hard man to hold down. I understand he has been getting around with crutches.  We wish you a speedy complete recovery, Howard.
